Fiji McAlpine created two online classes that are great starting points, helping you establish the foundations of the practice and slowing it down enough to avoid injury, while getting the same benefits. The two classes are called Power Yoga for Beginners and Beginner Basics in Flow.
Start this practice with long, slow yin holds which open the connective tissues of your lower body from hips to toes. Move on to more strengthening poses which will engage the muscles of your legs without over-taxing them. Then ground down through the lower body and learn how this can create more lightness and ease in the upper. Finally, Elise will again guide you through a soft, yin-like practice to end the class relaxed and calm. Pair with this session with Yin/Yang for the upper body for a longer, full-body experience.
