Ask the Expert: What Does CBD Really Do For Me? I love your blog! I want to say thank you for not making it scary. I am very intimidated by yoga and because of that I wouldn’t go to a class. But you make it so relaxing and inspiring! Also I would like to know your thoughts on yoga and conditioning for a half marathon. Currently I am doing yoga twice a week one day after a short run and the other as a yoga only day and I consider it cross training (no other running activities). Do you recommend that I combine yoga with my daily conditioning (running & swimming) or have a day scheduled just for yoga and consider it cross training? I want to make sure that my body is fully benefitting from the yoga. And that I am mentally and physically prepared for my first ever half marathon. And yes that is super intimidating…..but here goes nothing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I have never been able to stick with any exercise program, ever. I have been watching your videos and actively doing one or more each morning since The end of February. This, for me, is a huge accomplishment.

I really like your videos and your way of guiding yoga workouts but I find some things difficult, even in the complete beginner one, because my one knee doesn’t like to bend and my hand/thumb joints are very painful. Can you recommend a good yoga video for people with osteoarthritis?

Specialty Programs & Series People experiencing acute injury or trauma should switch to a restorative yoga practice. Poses that involve inverting the body or part of the body carry the most potential harm when practicing yoga asana. If you have untreated hypertension, migraine headaches, glaucoma, a detached retina or other eye problems, cardiac problems, vertigo, and are menstruating, you should avoid inversion poses. Prone positions and twisting poses strongly contract or put pressure on the abdomen or pelvis, which may be harmful during menstruation.

We’ll do some work ranging from seated or table-top “cat/cows”, down dog (seated uses a chair in front), balancing table top, forward folds – seated wide leg twists and stretches to lengthen the side body and lower back. This will be long, juicy holds and mindfulness to the smaller subtle-body experiences.
